An asymmetrical, competitive, two player game where player’s control their vessels and try to destroy each other, utilizing different tactics and strengths!
One of my projects from one of Sheridan’s Design Week Challenges where we had to make an arcade game.
A major design challenge as with all asymmetrical competitive games is making sure that both roles were equally strong while retaining a unique playstyle. We approached this problem by making the giving both the ship and sub their own identities to match that of their real life counterparts. The Ship was given increased fire rate with its depth charges, but was slower, while the Sub had to be more strategic with its slower mines by using its superior maneuverability and the cover of the deep water.
